We got our hands on a few promo copies of Blu's rare unreleased masterpiece NoYork, so we decided to make them available. Disc is packaged in a cardboard sleeve with four collectable covers spelling out the word "YORK" (covers selected at random). NoYork covers a wide spectrum of sound, displaying the production of such beat icons as Flying Lotus, Exile, Madlib, Shafiq Husayn of Sa Ra, Daedalus, Dibia$e, and Samiyam. Applying timeless vocals over detailed, textured instrumentals, Blu seems to have placed himself at the forefront of a new genre, melding classic hip-hop lyricism with the experimentation of the L.A. beat scene. Possessing more electronic moods than his previous releases, trails of psych rock, dub, broken beats, and jazz, all mix together to create a perfect representation of the artist that Blu has evolved into, creating a much-needed balance between golden era hip hop and the future of music. As Blu explains: "it's not a state, it's a state of mind." NoYork also features appearances from Edan, U-God (Wu-Tang Clan), Pac Div, UNI, J*Davey, Nola Darling, and more.
